KELVINDALE
GROWERS GARDEN

I decided when I set up Aproxima Arts that we should do something exactly where we live as well as delivering wider art works and productions, so the community garden is a great way for the charity to get involved with people and growing right outside your door.

Kelvindale Growers Garden grew out of the success of the lockdown potato growing initiative; an abandoned house plot was sitting unused and overgrown in the middle of the street and a great local group of all ages has volunteered to produce lively events and good fresh fruit and vegetables over the last two growing seasons.

The Chip Shop is an annual highlight of the Kelvindale Growers Garden, early spring Alex McCreight of Patch Potatoes in County Down sends us a box of Maris Pipers, this year they grew really well, we then peel and chip them at the garden before a big fry, the distance from 'Gate to Plate' is less then 3 metres.
