Starting in Townhead and passing by iconic landmarks such as the Royal Infirmary, the Cathedral and the Necropolis, this immersive audio walk guides you through some of the city’s most well-known locations, revealing the hidden histories and untold lives that lie beneath their foundations.
Whether you know Glasgow like the back of your hand or you’re just visiting, join us for a fresh and unusual glimpse into the city during its 850th anniversary year.
What you need to know
The Walk is experienced completely in the open air and involves grassy paths, old worn steps and slippery cobbles.
When wet, it should be undertaken with due care and attention and is completely at your own risk with forewarning of potential hazards.
Glasgow being Glasgow, we do recommend footwear and clothing that allows for the possibility of rain. For further access information please message us directly.
Wheelchair access is possible but may require assistance due to the elevation and distances involved, the Accessible map is marked with specific alternative routes.
The red disks marked on the map show key route locations along the way.
The Walk lasts around 90 minutes and is free to experience. All you’ll need is your fully charged phone, our tailored map and a pair of headphones.
The work is best experienced with two people or more walking together, but listening separately, undertaken between 10am to 5pm.
It begins at St Mungo RC Church 52 Parson St, Glasgow G4 0RX and ends at the Glasgow Necropolis.
We have planned for the route to be walked with verbal instructions from the audio, but a physical map of the route is available below to print-off in advance (advised) or you can pick up a copy at St. Mungo Museum of Religious Life and Art front desk on Cathedral Square.
